The Australian Association of Teachers of Korean (AUATK) is hosting the 2018 AUATK Conference and Professional Development (PD) Workshop at the University of Sydney on 29th of November–1st of December 2018. The theme of 2018 AUATK Conference and PD Workshop is Korean language education in times of change: Integrating perspectives on teaching and research. The major aim of the conference and PD Workshop is to bring together scholars, researchers, and educators to exchange and share research outcomes and ideas on teaching and learning Korean as a foreign/heritage language and discuss practical challenges and solutions. After the Opening and Conference Dinner in the evening of 29th of November, we will be having a conference on 30th November followed by a PD workshop on 1st of December 2018.
1. Conference Paper:
AUATK welcomes research papers in any area of relevant to language teaching and learning. We especially welcome academic papers which present well-researched aspects of connections between theory and practice to activate classes, accelerate Korean language learning process and to introduce innovations in language pedagogy.
If you wish to present a conference paper, please send an abstract of your paper to the Conference Organising Committee (Email: AUATKsecretary@gmail.com) by 19th of August 2018. Please visit the AUATK website, www.auatk.com.au to obtain two forms to submit— Abstract Form and Personal Information Card. Your abstract should be saved in the MSWord format. The abstract should be within 300 words in English excluding a list of references. Personal details of authors will be in Personal Information Card only, while Abstract Form includes only the title of paper.
All abstracts submitted will be reviewed through a double-blind reviewing process. Authors of selected papers will be notified by 3 September 2018 and be invited to submit their full papers by 31 October 2018 for the publication in the conference proceedings.
2. Professional Development Workshop: Sharing Teaching Materials
For the PD Workshop, the Organising Committee calls for presentations on sharing teaching materials or activities. The proposal should include target learners, objectives, material or procedure, and its effects. If you wish to exchange teaching materials or learning activities, please send a proposal to the Organising Committee (Email: AUATKsecretary@gmail.com) by 1st of August 2018.
Please visit the AUATK website, www.auatk.com.au to obtain two forms to submit—Presentation Proposal Form and Personal Information Card. Your proposal should be saved in the MS-Word format. The presentation proposal should be within 300 words in English or Korean, excluding a list of references. Personal details of presenters will be in Personal Information Card only, while Presentation Proposal Form includes only the title of presentation.
All proposals submitted will be reviewed by the Organising Committee and selected presenters will be notified by 3rd of September 2018 and be invited to submit their full presentation summary by 31st of October 2018 for the publication in the conference proceedings.
Other Information:
The presentation time for a conference paper and sharing teaching materials/activities is 20 minutes followed by a 10-minute Q&A and discussion session. Please submit no more than 1 individual abstract/proposal per person, or no more than 2 joint abstract/proposal per person. As this meeting is for AUATK members only, all presenters and participants must join the Association and pre-register by 30th of September 2018. The Organising Committee will provide on-campus accommodation to presenters from outside of the Sydney Metropolitan area including overseas presenters.
